MEET MIHAI TURCAN – NOC ENGINEER AT ITCARE

We’re continuing our ITcare team interview series, sharing insights from our colleagues. Today, we’re joined by Țurcan Mihai, a NOC engineer who joined 5 months ago. He shares his onboarding experience, what motivated him to join, and how he sees his professional growth.

Mihai is a great example of curiosity and dedication to complex projects. His story reflects how our culture of support and mentorship helps new team members grow from day one.

How did you hear about ITcare and what made you apply for a role in the NOC team?

I heard about ITcare through LinkedIn and decided to apply for the NOC team because I wanted to work with a group of seasoned engineers.

As a relatively new team member, what was your first impression of the company and your colleagues?

The team is friendly and always ready to give you the support you need to grow.

How were you welcomed during your first weeks? Did you feel supported by more experienced teammates?

I was warmly welcomed, and my teammates always explained every nuance whenever I had questions.

What have you enjoyed the most so far in your role?

What I like most about my role is having the opportunity to work with a variety of networks.

Have you encountered any challenges or unexpected situations in your first months? How did you overcome them?

I didn’t encounter any difficult situations because, during the onboarding period, I always had a mentor to help me.

Do you see this experience as a new chapter in your professional career? In what way?

Yes, absolutely. This role will help me grow as a network administrator and build the expertise needed to tackle a variety of real-world scenarios.

Have you felt supported in your learning and professional development? Did you have access to the resources you needed?

I consistently receive the support I need for learning and professional development. Resources are always available; if I require anything additional, I simply ask and it’s provided.

Is there anything you would improve or change in the onboarding process for new colleagues?

No. From my point of view, the onboarding process is well-structured. I received all the support I needed from day one, and the materials and guidance provided by more experienced colleagues made the transition very smooth. Everything was clear, organized, and efficient.

Looking back, do you feel you made the right choice joining ITcare? Would you recommend the company to other engineers? Why?

Yes to both questions. ITcare is a rapidly growing company where I’ve gained extensive hands-on networking experience, and I consistently receive guidance from more seasoned engineers.

What would you like to learn or achieve in the next 6–12 months as part of the NOC team?

In the near future, I want to deepen my understanding of the configuration syntax for various types of network equipment and gain hands-on experience with MPLS, EVPN, and VXLAN deployments.

Five months is early, but the trajectory is visible. Mihai Turcan joined to work alongside seasoned engineers and is already mapping his path toward MPLS, EVPN, and VXLAN, exactly the protocol depth we build the NOC team around. If his experience of our onboarding sounds like the environment you want to grow in, we are usually looking for engineers who ask good questions.
