It is Monday, which means another intense week. Plans, objectives, and a list that never gets shorter.
A conference is, at some point, mostly invisible work.
MDNOG is now officially registered as a non-profit organization. That single line hides a remarkable amount of paperwork, and we are glad it is behind us.
The sponsorship contracts are being signed and discussed. That part stays open on purpose. There is still room for companies who want to stand behind this, and there will be until October.
The venue is reserved and we are deep in the fit-out, working out how the room should be arranged down to the smallest detail.
Everything else is moving at once. Registrations. Sponsors. And the program, which is the part we care about most. The call for presentations is open, and the talks we want on stage are the ones people in this room actually live with: BGP and peering, RPKI and route origin validation, IPv6 deployment, DDoS detection and mitigation, DNS, network automation, telemetry, and what AI is starting to do inside a production NOC. No vendor pitches. Engineers who run networks talking to engineers who run networks about what broke, what held, and what comes next.
ITcare is hosting MDNOG 1 together with Trabia. The two of us helped start the community, and we are joined by partners who understood the idea and backed it from the moment they heard it.
The paperwork and the fit-out are not the interesting part. The interesting part is the two days in October when the people who keep Moldova’s networks alive are finally in the same room. Everything above exists so that room works properly when they get there.
